While tech millionaires build bunkers for doomsday, who is prepping for your files?
The prepper movement is a cultural phenomenon and cluster of people who proactively prepare for emergencies—preparations that are sometimes far from realistic but which turn into a passionate hobbyist lifestyle.
This course will ask us what it means when SHTF (Shit Hits The Fan) for our digital practice, business, and life and will turn paranoia and creativity into productive imagination about “What Ifs” and alternatives to the current digital infrastructure and tools. Not (only) as a form of survival but of resilience.
The topics of this course will touch on geopolitics of cloud computing and AI, platform capitalism, decentralization and self-hosting, open source, and dreaming up alternatives that are not only desirable in doomsday scenarios but allow us to reach for agency in the digital reality we live in.
